2024: Prime Minister or Painting?

As this year’s exhibition coincided with Polling Day some of those exercising their franchise at the village hall also stayed to visit the art show in the Main Hall.

Thursday 4 July proved to be a memorable, unique and very enjoyable day with visitors arriving from 7am until 9.45pm and paintings being sold from the first hour through until the glorious July dusk. Unlike the Returning Officer’s team in the annexe, ID was not required to vote for your preferred…painting!

Light and Water Katie Honey

Top of our poll was Light and Water: Katie Honey and for the Young Artists Laila’s Spring Flowers was first past the post.

The art as always was an eclectic and highly impressive mix and one which gives the show its unique appeal. We do not select as many other art events in the area do, so as there is something to suit all tastes and pockets, and entries from toddlers and from artists still enjoying their creativity in their tenth decade.

The longer hours and weekend downpours helped to make a record 1500 visitors and a total of 97 out of 371 artworks were sold. Thank you to all our volunteers who rose to the challenge as they always do, our community partners and sponsors of our raffle. The show raises funds for the Village Hall and the Gargrave Village Hall Coulthurst Trust, Registered (Charity No: 222607) received a donation from the show committee of £2000.
